Run For Your Lives 5K Obstacle Run

My 2nd 5k was only 6 days after my 1st on 10/27 at the Run For Your Lives 5K adventure run & it was a blast.  I had about an hour drive to this one, so not quite as long as my drive to the Color Run last weekend.  The email they sent out before our race said to arrive about 2 hrs early for our wave which was at 11:30, but we decided to leave even a little bit earlier than that as we had read about the parking nightmares from last years inaugural event.  This year went a lot smoother for getting in, however shortly after we got out of there we saw on Facebook that it turned into a disaster again for them.  After seeing the photos that were posted from other races I knew that it wasn't advisable to take my iPhone along on this run, so I ran out to get 2 disposable waterproof cameras so we could have some pictures.  They turned out great!!

I met up with Angie & Tabitha at the race parking where we waited for the shuttle buses to bus us over to the race area.  Here is Tabitha & Angie before the race
 & here is Angie & I!
After getting thru all the lines to get checked in & our gear checked, we had some free time to walk around for a little.  We went over to the zombies at 1st zone & while they were waiting for their next meals to arrive they left us get some photos with them.
While lining up for our wave time, we got to choose of whether to be the appetizer, entree, or dessert & since Angie doesn't like waiting around we chose to be appetizers for the zombies!!

At the end of the tunnels they made it to look like they were cage the zombie food & here is a pic of Angie as we were waiting to start!
Tabitha running to avoid the zombies from taking her flags!
Then we pass this & all say "Oh great, there is a lake!"
Here are the barrels we had to crawl thru & right as we got out there was zombies waiting to try & get our flags!
lots & lots of these walls to climb over!
Then a maze with zombies waiting inside & outside for us!  Here is Tabitha coming out!
Then a row of x's to crawl under which killed my knee & once again as soon as we were out of them, zombies were waiting for us!!  You can see Angie & Tabitha running thru the zombies here.
 More walls!

Next obstacle was to crawl thru the mud under barbed wire. Angie & Tabitha are in the top pic & then I'm in the 2nd one as Tabitha just got out!
Next came the FREEZING lake!!  Here is Tabitha & Angie going in!

Angie & I getting a pic of each other in the lake!!
& poor Tabitha!!  The minute she got chest deep in the water, she said she just felt like she couldn't breathe, so rather than risk going across she was helped back out & went around the alternate route.  Angie ran across the one bridge to make sure Tabitha was ok.  Here they are meeting back up with me.
After this we had to go down a huge hill only to come back up the killer hill!!
& I finally made it to the top!  LOL!!
Some where after this hill we were just following a group of people & got led down a wrong way which led to a dead end, so we had to turn around to find the correct path again.  Oops!!
We found it & found the mud pit too!!

More of those walls!!

 Smoke houses now!

Angie playing blocker to help Tabitha make it thru alive since she still had a flag left!
 & then some rolling hills!

 & another mud pit!!

At the very end was the huge waterslide that we had seen in Facebook photos & was wondering if it would be there for us!  Here is Angie & I going down it!!

Then right after it was the electrical fence to crawl under!  Here is Angie going under!

After race photos!!  Angie & I!
& Angie & Tabitha!  Overall we had a great time with some ups & downs.  Tabitha still had a flag left up until the very last set of zombies when one of them tried to grab it, but missed & dug her hand into her belly & as if that wasn't enough, another zombie came by to snatch the flag from her.  I did manage to SURVIVE!!  But only thanks to the FREEZING lake & my shirt!  After crossing the lake, my shirt wouldn't stay up above my flags so it made it almost impossible for the zombies to get them as they weren't supposed to touch us at all.  My oldest daughter, Stephanie, wants to do this race, so more than likely I will be planning on it for next yr too.  :)
