Day 3: CLX Burn Circuit 1 + “Stretch 10” Class

Not much new today.  I ran to the store to pick up the new dumbbells I ordered yesterday to have for today's workout.  At naptime I got Burn 1 done & I even was able to use the new weights with some of them.  My muscles are on fire & I can definitely feel the burn in my arms from the past 2 days & in my quads from the running.   Mamaw took the kids to the vet with her this evening which gave me some more free "me" time, so I used it taking the other 2 dogs on walks.  I ended up walking almost 3 miles.  At points I wanted to break into a run, but couldn't for the dogs sake.  They are only pugs & have trouble breathing at times.  So now at bedtime with everything out of the way, I am getting some nice relaxing time in.  :)

Hope every one got their sweat on today!!

Day 2: Turbo Fire 55 EZ Class + 10min Stretch

Day 2 was an awesome day for me!!  I woke up feeling great, ran some errands, came home & ordered bigger 10 lbs dumbbells as I have a feeling I will be needing them for Chalean workouts!! :-)   Turbo Fire 55EZ was on the schedule for today & I did my best working thru it, but still had to take many breaks!  It was just as fun as I remembered it from last month!  Tomorrow is CLX burn circuit 1 again & stretch 10, so I will get to test out my new weights on some of the exercises!!

After bedtime I decided I was going out for a nice walk & got bored with it after only about 1/2 mile, so I started jogging it.   I put my phone in my pocket & just forgot about it & ran!!  After getting queasy in the stomach & being almost home, I pulled my phone out to look at it & couldn't believe my eyes.  My total distance was 3.84 miles tonight!  So far this is my longest distance, but not the fastest.  I am still playing it easy with the impact on my back.  Don't need to knock myself totally out of the game so early!

Hope everyone got their workout in today!

"Running to the New Year" Challenge

A couple friends & I are at it again!!  Our new challenge is "Running to the New Year"  & the details are as follows:

Dates: Sep 23 – Jan 1

Challenge:  to make it to Times Square for the New Year

Distance: 205 miles (from Ft Meade, Md to Times Square, NY)

Rules:  Record your miles every week. Every few weeks we’ll calculate the distances traveled.
Every mile ran counts. Every mile walked counts. To make it on time we’ll need to average around 15 miles per week. To earn some extra mileage the following will also count 30 minutes of any cardio/weight training = 1 mile.

So here goes!!  I will update weekly as to where I am!! & Good Luck to anyone that would like to join us!!

Day 1: Turbo Fire/CLX/Running

Well it's day 1 and I am already going to have to modify most of the workout planned for today- CLX Burn Circuit 1 + Fire 30 (or a30 min run). Was hoping to be able to get a run in tonight, but ended up with my back acting up on Saturday again from a herniated L5-S1 disc with sciatic & spinal stenosis, so this is going to be a fun day to try to get this done. It needs to be done to help strengthen my back, just don't want to make anything worse. :-(

Update:  I thought I was going to have to modify a lot of the workout for today because of my back, but I was wrong!!  I woke up in pain this morning, but took some ibuprofen & just decide to get on with my day.  So off I went, ran my errands & doing things around the house & my back was holding up! :-)    With my dad having off work do to the rain this morning I was able to get out for my walk/jog while my youngest was napping.  I had only intended on walking because of my back, but things were going so well while walking that I got bored & felt great so I started jogging a little towards the end.  Only jogged for about a 1/2 mile, but didn't want to risk push my back to far that I couldn't do anything tonight.  After the older kids activities this evening & bedtime came time to for CLX Burn 1.  I LOVED IT!!  I didn't need to modify for my back, I needed to because my muscles weren't strong enough yet!!. Just got done less than an hour ago & I can already feel my arms are on fire!!  :-) Tomorrow is Turbo Fire 55EZ & 10 min stretch which I have a feeling I am really going to be needing!!

Update- Get to the Shore Challenge

I made it!! I made it home tonight!! From 6/1-today I have walked/run 280 miles!! My last run tonight was 3.43 miles at an 11:55 min/mile pace!! So proud of myself! I literally just put my phone in my armband with my music playing & the Jog Log app on & ran!! I pulled my phone out just home to get ready to be able to stop the apps, & I was shocked!! Had a couple a walk stops during 1st half mile as I felt something pull in my left calf early on, but was able to continue on. 1st time ever running 3 miles straight!! :-) & I still can't believe my 3rd mile time!! Never ever even in school years remember being at a 10 something mile!!

Get to the Shore for Summer Challenge

A friend came up with the idea of running/walking to the shore from her house by 9/22 which is the 1st day of fall. From her house to the shore was 140 miles, so that's how she chose the distance which wasn't bad as it averaged out to be only 8.75 miles per week. Well I kind of went over board on this challenge & decided that since I wasn't much of a runner when we 1st started this challenge, that I would double my efforts, since the other 2 girls were actually running their miles, that I was going to double the miles for this challenge & go for 280 miles. I'm happy to say I made it to the shore over the week of my birthday & have been on the way back home at this point. Almost home too!! As of last Sunday, I only had 20.86 miles left until I was back home & as of now I'm at 17.5 for this week & I still plan on going for a RUN tonight!! I got so comfortable with walking the distance that I broke out of my comfort zone late last month & ran 1.5 miles straight for the 1st time in my life!! :-). Since that night, I've pushed myself at least 2-3 per week to go past comfort & run! & yes I've managed it!! Last run on Wed was another personal record for me!! 3 miles at an 11:53 min/mile pace!! I've ran 3 miles straight for 1st time in my life!! I am still signed up for the color run 5K next month, & continuing to get comfortable with my running so that the next challenge friends & I do, I am running the entire distance!! :-) also looking at more 5K races to sign up for to keep me out there running!! I think I've found a new love of RUNNING!! & I thought I would never be one to say that!! :-)

MIA- Sorry

Sorry I've been missing in action on here, but life got in the way & I sort of fell off some of my goals, but managed to keep some others!! P90X didn't go over so well as I feel I still need some time to work up to that level, but I'm still working for it. :-). Instead I started Turbo Fire with my friend from afar. Everything was great on that until I got sidelined from some house reconstruction & painting almost the entire house. Got back into Turbo Fire but then our 10 day vacation broke into that. Sigh!! So ever since vacation, I've just been working bits & pieces back in, but not stuck to a schedule. My friend is finishing up on the 23rd, so we've picked another 12 week schedule to try out. This time we are mixing Turbo Fire, Chalean Extreme, & running into it!! So excited, as this will help bring weights into the program & hopefully get me set to be able to do P90X. :-) but also keeping Turbo Fire involved which I ABSOLUTELY love!! I am still doing good with my weight loss efforts also! Slow & steady, but still in the right direction at least!! :-). I'm at the weight I was when I met my youngest daughter's dad! :-)
